Hi Bill.
Welcome to our volunteer community. That's great that you want to start scanning. I Personally use Kurzweil to scan all my books but its quite pricy. A cheaper alternative would be Fine Reader version 7 or 8. The only drawback to that is that since they're now on version 10 you have to hunt around for the older versions. You can find them on Ebay. As for scanners I can't answer your question about a feeder, since I've never used one myself, but Epson makes good quality low cost scanners. I use an Opticbook 3600, but that costs $250. Anyone feel free to correct me if I've got something wrong. I hope I've been of help.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Good scanner and OCR?

I want to scan my first book, "ADD Friendly Ways to Organize Your
Life." What would you recommend I use for OCR? How about scanner?
Would it help to cut up the book so I can use a feeder?

Thanks, and sorry for the newbie questions.

Bill
