Hello Kaitlin,

I don't understand your question. Your message says Treasure Seekers. Are
you talking about The Story of the Treasure Seekers by E. Nesbit which is in
the collection, or is this a book that was on the Step 1 page? When you say
you have a copy, do you mean you own or have borrowed a copy of the book, or
do you mean that you're currently validating a copy? Where is the duplicate
that is mentioned in the subject?

If you're asking about the book by Nezbit which is in the collection and
wondering about the missing synopsis and copyright information, then many of
the earlier books (and even some of the recent books) do not have a short
synopsis or long synopsis, and the reason there is no copyright information
is that it is in the public domain.

Gerald

Hello Everyone,

I see the treasure seekers is on the system at this point with an excellent
rating. There is not additional information in the copy like authors name,
copyright or description. I have a copy here and it contains all the
information.

What might you do?

Dear Tina,

On the Wednesday night conference calls, the crowd advised me to type in the
title of the book I want to check in the advanced search. It will show up
there before it has time to be placed on the new books list. The group told
me my book had been accepted, but I argued, "I'm sitting at my computer and
you can listen to jaws read the name of my book on the list of books waiting
for approval. No way can it be approved yet."

They very good naturedly insisted the book was approved. I would have
believed them right away but I was sure the news was too good to be true.

Which reminds me...Pat, I hope your appointment wasn't too much of an
ordeal. I've been thinking about you. Let me know off list, please..

Always With Love,

Lissi

Hi. For people who've had books approved, are you notified by e-mail
or do you just have to look on the pages to see? I've only had one book
approved that I've tried validating and camn't remember how I saw it I think
just on the new book page. Just curious how others find that out.

                Lissi,

I don't know when Bookshare hit 23,000, but Gustavo sent a
notice on June 14 that Bookshare had reached 22,500, and there was a big
announcement on the website back in January when Bookshare reach 20,000.
1000 books by the end of the year should be easy since, from what I've
noticed, Gustavo approves around 400 to 500 books a month, and we have
three months left in 2005. Things will probably slow down around
Thanksgiving and probably come to a crawl in mid to late December, but I
still think we'll reach 25,000 by the end of the year with no problem.

It will be interesting to see when we do reach 25,000.

                Gerald

P.S. Here's Gustavo's notice from back in June.

                gentlepeople,

thanks to a night of very little sleep (i blame the hot
weather), i approved a mess of books last night/this morning. we have
surpassed the 22,500 live books mark that we were aiming for by the start of
the summer conventions the first week of July.

we've met that goal a few weeks ahead of schedule, it seems!

thanks for your hard work, your fun in sharing your passions
for books, and for your participation in this awesome community.

                so, what's our next goal?

                Dear Janice and Gerald,

It's inspiring to be updated on the number of books in the
collection. A thousand books before 2006 sounds like a tall order. Would any
of you who enjoy statistics and are good at research be willing to find out
how long it took to add the previous thousand titles, as in going from 23 to
24 thousand books?

Thanks, Gerald, for the good news that we've reached 24
thousand.

Janice, I loved your post listing the number of books in the
various categories. I love contemplating numbers, comparing categories and
being happy that some of my favorites are well stocked. I'll be referring to
your list from time to time. Thank you again for compiling and sending it.

                Always With Love,

                Lissi

Gustavo doesn't show it on Bookshare's home
page yet, but I happened to do a
couple of searches using the Advanced Search
page earlier and found that
the collection has 23,774 books in English
and 274 books in Spanish. That's
a total of 24,048 books in the collection.
That leabes three and a half
months to break the goal of 25,000 by the
end of the year.
