I may be wrong, but from what you've posted here, I
would say this is not a condensed book. As I interpret
this, there were 3 printings of the book up to 1962,
and then there was the a Readers' Degoest Condensed
book published in 1957. I would say that this 1964
Pyramid edition is a 4th printing of the original
book, copyrighted in 1957, but it's actually a new
edition because it has an Afterword that was added to
it. Perhaps there were other changes, too. Can you
tell anything from the Afterward?
