Paul et al,

I suspect a major reason behind people's willingness to write reviews is
to see their name/work appear in print. While one might have to dig
through an unfathomable obscurities of the web--a job made a lot easier
for us Googlites, it nonetheless presents some superb opportunities. If
I had more time and energy, I'd expound on my random bits of fluff,
resonating through the terminals (or as some on this list might refer to
as "synapsis")--yes, we're back to those.

While the idea of giving people credit for writing reviews seems
fasinating, it does not seem practical from Bookshare's business
perspective. Bookshare does not have such a wide distribution network
that it attracts many enthusiastic people who have the time to write
such reviews. Those of us who are involved in scanning and validating,
our energies are far more otherwise occupied to consider the chore of
writing reviews. The interface for writing these reviews is not as
conducive as on such sites like www.audible.com. Though their interface
might be considered slightly "busy," it's well designed and has been
made quite accessible. Perhaps bookshare needs to reconsider some of
these interface changes to make it a truly interactive site.

Enough of my nonsensicle ideas.

I am sort of with Donna on this one, though, I think, some of my
synopses have tended toward the editorial. I am amazed at how many
people write reviews for Amazon books and music, some of which are quite
extensive. What motivates them to do it?

It is a puzzlemenht.

I believe there is a link on the page where you download the individual
books that says "review this book" or something. Fortunately this can be
done whenever, not just when the book is submitted. Having said that,
I've
never actually written a review, although I think I should.
