Hello, Joan.
If you are a patron of the library for the blind, they may be able to refer
you to a program to help you get a computer. My state has a program like
this so others may too. Here, Project Reboot offers used computers for
$10.00 to $15.00. You have to complete some forms and, I imagine, be
evaluated in some fashion.
Good luck.
Christina

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Book requests

Hello list,

I am not currently a volunteer; I hope to be someday, afterI get a new
computer. I am currently on disability, and am trying to get the money from
somewhere for a new computer and scanner.

First, I'd like to thank all of you for the wonderful work you do; I've been
a Bookshare member for about 4 years, and have benefitted much from
everything I've read. Also I want to applaud this list. It is one of the
most supportive lists I've ever seen, and all of you really do a lot to help
one another. As I said I hope to be a part of this process some day, so I
can give back.

Now, for the two requests. I have sent these to the wish list, but I need to
bring them to your attention. The first one is "Loving, Bailey Flanigan 4,"
by Karen Kingsbury. This is the fourth and final book in a series. All of
her other series books were scanned by someone, I don't know who. This book
came out about a month ago, and it is not on the being scanned list, nor is
it in the collection. I'm surprised and a little bit disappointed by this,
because I would have thought someone would be working on it, but I guess it
has fallen through the cracks. The other book is "Good Grief," 50th
anniversary edition, by Granger Westberg. It's nonfiction, dealing with
grief and loss. This book has been around a long time, but Bookshare doesn't
have it.

I'd really like to read these two books, and would appreciate it if someone
would scan them. Other people would benefit from them also.

Thanks again for all the work you do, and thanks in advance for scanning
these two books.

Keep up the great work!

Best Regards,
Joan Goldberg
