Since the Iditarod is currently going on, in Alaska, and there is a VI
musher this year, There is a book on the site I want to recommend.

It is called

Race Across Alaska
The First Woman to Win the Iditarod Tells her Story
By Libby Riddles

Is rated excellent, and is a great book about what goes into the race, the
dogs, and of course the real experience on the trail. I do recommend being
curled up with a blanket if reading it, as some of the stuff she describes,
well I needed to get some hot chocolate after reading it, smile.

But I highly recommend it for anyone interested in dogs, animals, racing, or
sports, or just a great wilderness story.

We also have a kids book about the Iditarod, called Akiak A Tale of the
Iditarod, also marked excellent.

The vision must be followed by the venture. It is not enough to
stare up the steps - we must step up the stairs.
