Still waiting on the Blackburnian, black-throated green and Rose-breasted
grosbeak, but the tanagers, ovenbird, warbling, white-eyed, red-eyed and
yellow-throated vireos, KY, blue-winged, prairie and parula warblers have shown
up here in northern Franklin County. Should be soon for the others I hope......

After *finally* a night of south winds, there are certainly new birds around
this morning . . . but not as much as I had thought.
Highlight this morning was a tardy female Brewer's Blackbird out in the
cattle pasture. I think I heard her flying in; she hung out for about 30
minutes feeding with a few cowbirds and starlings, but then I watched her
take off and fly to the northern horizon ...
Also heard a Dickcissel going over. Eastern Kingbirds sitting around on the
barbed wire fences around all the pastures.
I could wring the neck of a House Wren that has only been singing around the
house for a couple of days, but has already thrown out the eggs of the
second clutch of my resident Carolina Wrens . . .
