I observed this evening approximately 250-300 nighthawks migrating southwest.
After finishing cutting my yard a saw another large flock of around 100 birds
circling high overhead in a thermal. Two weeks ago a saw an almost equal
number moving southwest. It would appear that the Common Nighthawk population
is doing relatively well.
