First spring warblers heard at Mammoth Cave today: 3 black-and-whites and 2
yellow-throateds. I also found a male pileated woodpecker excavating a nest
hole down near the Green River. It would be a good place for pictures...please
contact me off the bird line if you want specific directions.
The first wave of spring flowers is in full bloom, including bloodroot and
hundreds of twinleaf flowers today. The latter may not survive the coming
rain...they're extremely fragile.
