Hi All,
We have had both the YELLOW-BILLED AND THE BLACK BILLED HERE. I have some
photos somewhere! BTW, they are very shy. One day I followed them all around
the edges of the woods at our house, hoping to photograph the YELLOW-BILLED. I
WAS STANDING QUIETLY UNDER AN ELM TREE, LOOKED UP, AND SAW not one, but two
yellow-billed cuckoos STARING BACK DOWN AT ME. It was a great angle for seeing
the yellow on the lower part of the bill. And, I heard the YELLOW-BILLED this
week. Do you know that the “old timers” (yes that’s me) call it the “RAIN
CROW”?
Cheers to all.
BTW, yesterdays birds included EASTERN TOWHEE, RUBY-THROAATED HUMMER, HORNED
LARK, KILLDEER, WHITE BREASTED NUTHATCH, PHILADELPHIA VIREO, BARRED OWL,
GOLDFINCHES, ETC.
