It was hard to tell who was calling louder, the Baltimore Orioles, Orchard Orioles, or the Warbling Vireos. But the best thing about it all was there is a fresh Baltimore Oriole nest at the very end of a branch of an Elm tree at my cabin on Jonathan Creek (Ky. Lake). It has been over 12 years ago since a nest in that tree successfully fledged Baltimore Orioles. Or were they Northern Orioles at that time? Also building a nest in the Sweetgum was a Kingbird along with Bluebird brooding eggs in the box and Cardinals on their eggs in a bush. A lone Cattle Egret in breeding plumage was prancing along the shoreline. This is the first Cattle Egret I have seen at my cabin. I think it had better look elsewhere for a mate. Solitary Sandpiper at the end of my street in town his week (Murray). Also observed a Solitary Sandpiper and Green-back Heron at watershed lake in Murray. On the look for more Scissor-tail Flycatchers in Murray, Ky.
