We finally hit a nice patch of fall warblers today, after several futile tries.
We birded at the southern boundary of Mammoth this morning on Hwy 255, where
the bike trail parallels the road. Birds were really active...we walked a
round trip of 1/2 a mile in about 90 minutes. Highlights were 11 warbler spp.
An evening walk at Nolin Lake (campgrounds are closed...ours again until May!)
turned up 2 Caspian terns, new lake birds for us, along with an osprey and 7
nighthawks.
All in all, a great day to be outside.
