Subject: [birdky] Woodcocks
I went to Barkley Dam this evening to look and listen for woodcocks in the
large open field area northeast of the dam on the Lyon County side. Despite the
steady breeze, there were several birds “peenting” and performing display
flights all around me.
The first “peent” call was 10 minutes after sunset, and the first display
flight was 13 minutes later. I managed to get brief looks at a few of them.
