Was reading your update on my back porch here in louisville just now and looked
up to see a very dapper white-throated sparrow peering at me (or more likely at
the feeder beside me - drop some seed already). Based on your report, I suspect
he may be taking his handsome new plumage on the road -er, to the sky- very
soon.
Thanks for alerting us to their departure from your neck of the woods. As a
novice birder, I have gotten more disciplined about recording the date of new
arrivals, but not so much with departures. Have had a few white-throated
sparrows here all winter and am now on the lookout to see how much longer they
stick around.

Tuesday morning, while waiting in vain 45 minutes for Jeeves to make an
appearance, I began to notice that I wasn't seeing any of the half dozen
White-throated Sparrows that have been regulars all winter. I remembered

think they left town on either the 27th or 28th. I was beginning to think
Jeeves left with them, but as soon as I got back to the house from checking

but likely got the best I'll get before he leaves. The White-crowned Sparrows
