This afternoon the only waterfowl on Big Parsons Pond was a single Coot. There were also a good many Killdeer, a few Pectoral Sandpipers and 1 Least Sandpiper. The smaller transient pond was dry. But for some reason there was a good number and variety of birds on the tiny pond just over the rise from the gravel pull off - 3 Blue-winged Teals, 2 Mallards, maybe a dozen Pectoral Sandpipers, 2 Wilson's Snipes, 2 Least Sandpipers, 1 Greater Yellowlegs and one more which I first tried to call a Western, then Baird's and finally settled on White-rumped after some interaction with the facebook ID bird group of the world. Still a little uncertain because I didn't see any red on its lower mandible.
