From about 7:30AM until about 9:30AM I drove around possible shorebird spots in
western Henderson Co. this morning.
Only got out of my Jeep at the NW edge of Horseshoe Road slough and walked west
between corn and bean fields.
HHH
I hit Sand Slough, slough north of West Franklin Road, Horseshoe Road slough,
1574 sloughs, and brief look at Wood Tract south.
High water everywhere: up into the beans and corn. I drove through water across
the road at West Franklin at Sand Slough and at Horseshoe Road.
Highlight was one Greater Yellowlegs at HRs, as well as a fly over Least Tern
there also.
Other usual suspects:
8 Great Egrets
20 Great Blue Herons
2 Hooded Mergansers
Killdeer
3 Mallards
2 Red-tailed Hawks.
Other misc. birds not mentioned. Nothing to write home about.
Did not even make an eBird report.
