July 10, 2010, 7:30AM to Noon I did Horseshoe Road again. Spent an hour there from 7:30AM to 8:30AM.Sandpipers gone. Willet still there. Surprise was a lone Snowy Egret overflying. The water level is good for shorebirds, but only the Willet and lots of Killdeer.
Next off to Jenny Hole/Highland Creek Unit for some forest birding. Birds very quiet and sparse.
Finally a check for Lark Sparrows on McDonald Landing Road even though it was nearing Noon (not the best time for birding). 1 seen. Another surprise: 2 Fish Crows passing overhead heading for the Ohio River.
