Bridge often flushes several sparrows from a wet bottom in a roadside bean
stubblefield as we take our afternoon walk. I have several times noted some
Vesper Sparrows among the many Savannahs, but light is low at our usual walk
time and I didn’t want to report without pictures. Today I spent about an hour
in that bottom, finding and repeatedly failing to keep any of the 3 Vesper
Sparrows I found in the frame long enough for pictures. One finally cooperated,
then the camera battery died. Miraculously, it was still there by the time I
changed the battery and stayed for a number of clicks. A little later one lit
in the fencerow across the road right after a passing vehicle made everything
take flight. Pictures with ebird report -
