The Tricolored Heron was seen this afternoon at the very north end of Lake #9 (8/7/05). I enjoyed a show of 4 Mississippi Kites and 3 Broad-winged Hawks hawking insects along the levy. The bird was found in Cypress Trees along the ditch in the Willow Pond area. Two Buff-breasted Sandpipers were seen in a field. Other shorebirds included Least Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper, Solitary Sandpiper, Lesser Yellowlegs and Pectoral Sandpiper. We spent a few hours at Lake #9. Herons, egrets and wood ducks were found.
