The Ohio has dropped enough in the last 2 weeks to expose the mudflats around
Swan Lake. Several large pools are present and should continue for a few
weeks. Few shorebirds are present at this date but least terns are very
visible for viewing and photographing right along the gravel road entering Swan
lake. Water is still across the road and many areas are only accessible by 4
wheel drive. Mitchell lake is just about perfect for this time of year with
mudflat just starting to show on the north end by the duck trap station and on
the south end around the island by the levee.

Highlight include

Swan Lake

Great egret 25
Least tern 30 (adults)
Killdeer 25

Least sandpiper 5 (fresh juveniles)

Mitchell Lake
