Nothing like "garage swallows."
We lost our b. swallows a few years ago? Used our old tractor shed for decades,
then they flew away one August.
However, the dozen plus colors of perennials, trees, bulbs with the Buckeys and
pears soon to open keep the place lively. Planted more today....plus pulled a
few weeds, mowed and more....like it was spring.

What would we do without nature? I never want to know!

I glimpsed a single Barn Swallow on March 24, but did not get a good look at
it. Then yesterday, at about 5 PM CDT, I pulled in the driveway and punched
the garage door opener button when I reached the point, about 40 feet from
the door, where the signal is strong enough to open it. This routine opens
the door just high enough to pull in, by the time I reach it. In the few
seconds it took me to come around the corner and approach the door, two Barn
Swallows swooped under the moving, half-opened, door :-). They were still
swirling around in the garage, when I pulled in. It was like they were
saying “what took you so long, we’ve been waiting all day!“
Then, this afternoon, Katie and I cut the grass for the first time this year.
The sun came out and it quickly became too warm for my sweatshirt. I took it
off near the garden and hung it on a corner post, about 15 feet from one of
our nest boxes. A short time later, Katie texted me a photo, taken from the
mower, of a Tree Swallow resting on my sweatshirt.
It’s really good to have our friends back :-)
