I’m going to have to give thanks before the whole group for Preston giving me
credit for being an owl whisperer. Truth be known, there is a minor qualitative
difference between being able to recognize an owl call and being able to call
in an owl. But thanks again anyway.

A couple of Snowy Owls were reported last week in southeast NY State, on or
near the Hudson River. One was perched on a high point of the Newburgh-Beacon
Bridge over the Hudson, so if you are going up there for New Year Eve, you
may want to check that out.
We have our fingers crossed that one will show up for the New Year Day CBC at
Sinclair WMA, Muhlenberg Co., KY. Maybe BPB can call one in! Or, perhaps, as
Frank Lyne is into owl calls, maybe he will.
I have used recorded Pileated Woody's to call them in close, real close,
especially from the broadwalk at Congsree NP, S.C., so bird calls do work.
But, some say not to overdo the recorded bird calls.
