Good morning,
If anyone is interested in looking for migrants here in central Kentucky over
the next few days I would like to recommend a couple of trails at Shaker
Village. I’ve hiked several of the trails recently and really am not seeing
many birds except along a stretch of two trails that surround or follow the
creek flowing from the Fulling Mills waterfall site (which is just a trickle at
the moment). You can basically do a loop from the Towering Sycamore trail to
the Shawnee Run trail and up the Chinquapin trail back to the west lot. The
most concentrated area of warblers has been from right before the falls to the
creek crossing on the Shawnee trail. Something seems to be drawing them to this
area this year(the water maybe). Most of the birds from my lists have come from
those spots. Anyway I thought I’d offer a suggestion of a decent spot because
of all the dry weather we are having.
