Hi Kyle,
I am very happy that you observed the shrikes at shaker village using the
burned areas. I am curious if you noticed any color bands on the individuals
you saw? Please shoot me an email, I would love to hear more about your
observations on Saturday.
Thanks

Subject: [birdky] Shaker Village
I just returned from birding at the Shaker Village in Gerrard County. It is now
open after doing some substantial burning for conservation measures.
I honestly could have spent much longer birding there today. With many of the
fields burned it mad for fantastic viewing of several species that were
foraging on the burned areas. Many of these birds are much harder to view
normally. If you get a chance to get out there in the next week or two I highly
recommend it. Among my personal highlights today were two Loggerhead Shrike, a
large flock of Tree Sparrows (I counted 18) but I believe that there were more
and several Fox sparrows .
One of the Shrikes was seen in the burned field just as you pass by the
cemetery. That field would be on your right. The second Shrike was behind the
horse barn in the west Lot in the burned out areas.
