Our pair of Lake Barkley ospreys produced their second new egg on camera at 11:14 am yesterday. Linda Chambers, Cape May, MA was the first person to report sighting the second egg at about 6 pm EDT. KEEP checked 4,000 saved photos to find the first image showing a second egg recorded at 11:14 am. A new 2009 second egg gallery is now available with 24 new photos. For the second time egg laying took place during a severe thunder storm. In the new second egg gallery, image 22 shows the strong force of the wind bending a wing back and a resulting feather out of place in photo 23. Note how low the female stays to reduce the impact of the high winds. Check out the first video clip of the season using time lapse imaging to show the complete egg laying sequence of the first egg arrival, one frame each 10 seconds. Ed Ray, Hopkins Co.
