For many of us in the birding community; at some point in our KY birding
odyssey, we had the great opportunity to meet Laurie Davidson. Laurie was the
manager of KDFWR's Salato Education center. Laurie tragically lost her life
this weekend while on vacation in South Carolina.
I consider myself extremely fortunate for the time I got to spend with Laurie.
In a profession where I work with passionate people every day, none was more
passionate their work than Laurie was. Under her guidance, the Salato center
has grown to a place where more than 100,000 people per year learn about
Kentucky's wildlife. She was always so amazing to work with and I will miss
her greatly. I always struggle with the right thing to say in a situation like
this...but the right thing in this situation to say is we all loved her and she
will be incredibly missed.
