Had 43 species birding with Jeff Oliver. We covered Hardin and La Rue county.
Highlights were a juvenile Ross's Goose at Freeman feeding on the bank with
domesticated Geese. This bird was obvious a Ross's Goose compared with the
Mallards there the goose was slightly smaller. This bird was about 30 yards
from us. We did not approch the bird just enjoyed watching the goose
intergrated with the tame ducks and geese feeding where it would have been over
looked by serious birders. This would be a good chance to have a good veiw or
photo if anyone is interested. We had a Short eared Owl off 84 a few miles
south of Sonora. The bird landed on a fence post off the road which gave us an
excellent view through the binocs. We had several skattered Sandhill Cranes,
not many cranes in Cecelia.
