In this new age, unfortunately one really needs to be monitoring the travesty
called "F***book" or eBird to be up on the latest news about a rare bird ...
The internet allowed us birders to all communicate much more effectively, and
the advent of the regional listserv made for a simple, one-stop shopping trip
to keep up with the news of the day ... but we had to go and ruin a good thing
by creating local chat groups etc. on different platforms, and now you can't
rely on the single greatest communication tool we ever had ....
Just so it's here on the KY listserv ... the Red-necked Stint was seen until
about mid-morning yesterday. Several folks looked post-eclipse and were not
able to find it, although it appeared that virtually every other bird that had
been there in the morning was still around ...
Steve Graham got some really nice pics on Sunday afternoon that are with his
and Teresa's eBird list; I'm sure he will get them on the KOS Flickr site now
that chasing eclipses is out of the way. I encourage others to post their stint
photos on the KOS Flickr site or put links to them on BIRDKY.
At least one birder will be searching the area again this morning so hopefully
it didn't totally fly the coop.
