I visited Cherokee Park today, October 10, and found some good late fall birds. A noise coming from literally a foot off the walkpath turned out to be Sedge Wren. It was probably one of the most accomodating Sedge Wrens I have ever had the pleasure to know. Other highlights from this and recent trips:
Red-sh. Hawk
Common Nighthawk
all wrens except marsh and bewick's
first Hermit Thrush of season
Golden-cr. Kinglet
Gray Catbird
10 Black-thr. Green Warblers

a Veery on 10/06 at Cherokee Park

Jefferson Memorial Forest on 10/07
Orange-cr. Warbler
a bird I'm almost positive was a Blackpoll Warbler
(whats with the shift in migration patterns, they're supposed to be rare)
Scarlet Tanager
Rose-br. Grosbeak
Dark-eyed Junco

Good Birding,
Michael Autin
