The previously reported White-winged Scoter on the Ohio River at Louisville was diving right off the Duffy's Landing boat ramp this morning about 10:00 a.m. SO FAR it has avoided being shot by one of the numerous duck hunters on the Ohio River in the vicinity. We can only hope that no one notices it between now and Sunday's close of the early waterfowl season; keep your fingers crossed. Otherwise there was very little on the river today from below the Falls to Cox's Park. There was a single male Canvasback in the basin above the Falls. Here on the farm I only heard single flyover American Pipit and Horned Lark during a little time outdoors. The only thing ruining the calm of a spectacular day was the periodic raids of the yard by a Sharp-shinned Hawk. bpb, Louisville
