Nine Short-eared Owls may be the high daily count for that area over the past
several years.
Way to go !!

Yetserday, Brian Wulker, Steve Graham, and I searched for several hours for
the Sinclair Unit Northern Shrike (last reported 5 Dec 2020) in hopes that it
might still be on territory. We could not find it. Between all of us,
highlights included 2 House Wrens, a Merlin, and 9 Short-eared Owls.
Later, Brian, Steve, and I met up with Teresa Graham at Frostburg Road in
Hopkins County hoping that the Prairie Falcon (last reported 16 Dec 2020) would
put in an appearance. Plenty of Red-tails and harriers, but again ... a no
show. Brian and I did have at least one Brewer's Blackbird flyover and nice
looks at a female Richardson's (Prairie) Merlin.
