Birded areas along the Ohio River this morning. The river is high and muddy, lots of debris floating downstream.
Shippingport Island:
Gadwall 45
Mallard 12
P-billed Grebe 2
Hooded Merganser 1
Coots 5
N. Shoveler 3
Ring-necked Duck 1
Ruddy Duck 1
D-C Cormorant 3
Sandhill Crane 200 in a single flock/flyover around 1200 hrs heading south.
Falls of the Ohio:
A few ring-billed gulls flying, no ducks. Water is flowing over the fixed weir.
Big Four Bridge:
Ring-billed gulls 250+
Bufflehead 25
Gadwall 20
Canada Goose 10
Gadwalls were the most plentiful waterfowl observed, quite a few on lakes/ponds in Indiana.
