Quite a little gathering of birders despite the dreary conditions to watch the
evening arrival at the roost.
Different today than 1/8/2014:
pair of Canvasbacks
10-12 American Wigeon
51! Greater White-fronted Geese
Still present:
circa 200 Sandhill Cranes (one color banded)
ad. Ross's Goose
maybe 1000 Canada Geese
NO longspurs or buntings seen
NO or MANY FEWER No Shovelers and Green-wg Teal
Tonight's rain and warm temps will likely result in thawing of the lake and
surrounding bodies of water, so the show will likely not be as good until the
next cold snap.
