With almost all other water frozen, there was an impressive collection of diving ducks for the Cincinnati stretch of the Ohio River today. I viewed from the Ohio side, but most of the birds were in Kentucky waters. The White-winged Scoters were right about on the state line in that area, and likely spent time in both states. The stretch of river surveyed would roughly be from Covington to Melborne on the Kentucky side. See eBird for specific location breakdowns. 185 Canada Goose 14 Mallard 155 Canvasback 32 Redhead 2 Ring-necked Duck 44 Greater Scaup 2 Lesser Scaup 2 White-winged Scoter - viewed from the overlook at Rivertowne Marina (OH), far upstream near 4 Seasons Marina (OH).
