[birdky] RPT: Morgan's Pond Scissor-tailed Flycatcher

Reporting for David Roemer and myself.
Birding at Morgan's Pond in SW Christian County this afternoon produced a
surprise Scissor-tailed Flycatcher male. The bird was first observed by
David in a chance look-up from the pond. The bird flew south and landed on
a powerline nearby and posed for a minute, possibly 2 or 3. The bird then
flew generally west and south of KY 117 towards US 41A and was not
relocated. Perhaps 20 Black-necked Stilts were observed with some 3 - 5
birds apparently incubating on nests. Other birds of interest here include:
* Blue-winged Teal with brood of ducklings
* Lesser Scaup, 1
* Ruddy Duck, 5
* Semi-palmated Plover, ~30
* Semi-palmated Sandpiper, ~100
* White-rumped Sandpiper, ~15
* Black Tern, 1
* Least Tern, 1
* Bald Eagle, Immature, 1
We then drove a short distance up KY 345 and 107 to Swallow Springs.
Migrant shorebirds were represented by a single Semi-palmated Plover here.
However, also observed were 1 Blue-winged Teal with ducklings and 2 Wood
Ducks with Ducklings.
Todd County produced the following birds of possible interest.
* 2 Great Egret at the transient ponds along US 79
* 1 Red-shouldered Hawk inside the "city" of Guthrie
* 1 Bald Eagle Adult on the ground at Guthrie Swamp NE Corner
In Logan County the KY 739 Transient Lake-Pond was checked and a female
Northern Harrier was observed along KY 848 west of Keysburg. Observed at
the pond were:
* 6 Mallard females with young
* ~15 Semi-palmated Plovers
* ~35 Semi-palmated Sandpipers
* ~5 White-rumped Sandpipers.
That concludes this report.
