Was at Ky Dam for part of the day yesterday; lack of cold weather had me not
expecting much and there wasn't much, but did find a second-year Thayer's Gull,
mostly loafing on the dam structure with Herrings. They were opening gates
during the day yesterday (went from 2 to 6 spilling while I was there) so
activity may pick up. Late in the afternoon there may have been 100 Herrings
total there. Also a first-year Lesser Black-backed there. Very few ducks on
north ends of Ky Lake and Lake Barkley; did have ad. Lesser Black-backed off
Buzzard's Roost and 2 Lessers at Sledd Creek. Few gulls at closed Barkley Dam.
Numerous pelicans below both dams.
Not much else to report.
I added a nice photo of three of the four adult Bald Eagles at the Taylorsville
Lake nest taken by Pam Spaulding yesterday to my Flickr stream. Zoom up on the
photo for a very stunning image ... :o)
