Matthan & Jamin Beachy, Joshua & Lavern Stoll, and I visted eastern Hopkins
County yesterday afternoon. The highlight was coming across presumably the same
Prairie Falcon that wintered along Frostburg Road 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. We
found it perched on the ground in the same spot where I first noted it in
December 2013! It gave chase to a Merlin off to the west and sat on one of the
power pole crossbars for about 45 minutes before returning to the big fields at
the end of Frostburg Road. All of the surrounding land is private, so folks
going there should probably stick to the road.
Other highlights included a few flocks of Snow Geese headed west, a single
Brewer's Blackbird along Anton Road, and a number of Northern Harriers.
