April 19, 2015: The campground area at Carter Caves State Park was alive with
birds this morning before the rain began. Two elm trees in the forest edge
were covered with seeds. Both goldfinches and purple finches were working on
the seeds. A couple female orioles enjoyed the seeds as well, but I could not
be sure whether they were orchard or Baltimore. Red-headed woodpeckers were
calling actively and I heard my FOS cerulean warbler.
