I found at least 4 Red-necked Grebes on Doe Valley Lake, Meade County, yesterday. They could not be seen from the overlook at the dam. There were also 2 Common Loons (my first spring migrants of the season), 9 Lesser Scaup, and small numbers of Pied-billed Grebes and American Coots. At Freeman Lake at Elizabethtown I joined Bill Friel for some early evening scanning in very nice light. The previously reported 3 Red-necked Grebes continue there. Also present were a few Gadwall & Ring-necked Ducks, a hen Green-winged Teal, 33 Canvasbacks, 18 Greater and 15 Lesser Scaup, a pair of Bufflehead, 24 very actively diving Red-breasted Mergansers, and about 8 Horned Grebes. bpb, Louisville ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============== When posting on BIRDKY, please close posts with your first and last name and your address (city or county). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To post on BIRDKY, send e-mail to: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS website at http://www.biology.eku.edu/kos/default.htm * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS Photo Page to view photos of birds recently sighted in Kentucky: http://www.flickr.com/groups/kentucky_ornithological_society/pool * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison.
