Friday, April 17, 2020: Two pairs of common mergansers were hanging out on the
Levisa Fork of the Big Sandy River at Fishtrap Lake WMA on Friday. The location
was a few hundred yards upstream (south) of the bridge on Route 194 at Biggs
(north of Fedscreek). Mergansers have been on the river all winter and spring.
Maybe this year I will make time to confirm nesting in the nest boxes. Will
report back if I do.
