Dropped by the Bourbon County Scissor-tailed Flycatcher location this afternoon. Did not see or hear a bird and decided to drive down the road and see if I could find Steve Watkins, the local resident who had previously told us of the pair's presence for three years. Had luck finding Steve and he said the last date he observed either of the birds was June 4th. He did say he saw two birds this year. So don't know if they remain locally but just out of view or moved on. Did hear at least three Grasshopper Sparrows and a Savannah Sparrow singing away in the mowed hayfields and pastures. bpb, Louisville brainard.palmer-ball@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============== The BIRDKY Mailing List requires you to sign your messages with first & last name, city, & state abbreviation. -------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, send e-mail to: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx -------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Kentucky Ornithological Society web site at http://www.biology.eku.edu/kos.htm * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison, Richmond, KY E-mail: gary.ritchison@xxxxxxx
