Hi All,
What a colorful lunch we enjoyed today. Most of these birds ate from the
suet cake: BALTIMORE ORIOLE (M), SUMMER TANAGER (F), ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK
(M), BROWN THRASHER, RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER. Usually these birds are not on
the suet cakes and have always preferred the sunflower seeds except for the
flasher and the RB woodpecker. All were seen from our windows in the
upstairs sunroom. We feel very fortunate to have such a variety (not
counting the usuals-northern cardinal, titmouse, chickadee, towhee, mourning
dove, Carolina wren, downy wp, hairy wp, wb nuthatch, blue jay, etc.- all at
the feeding area.) Plus Les saw the following at the golf course: BARN
SWALLOW, FIELD SPARROW, GREAT BLUE HERON, EASTERN MEADOWLARK. I HAVE NEVER
SEEN MOST OF THESE BIRDS ON THE SUET. We are still waiting for the warblers.
