We have a friend who fell in love with some doves he saw in France, built a
cote, and brought some to Munfordville. I don’t know the breed, but they are
beautiful, and very white. They stay close to home, but it’s not unusual to see
them circling his house.

I’d guess those are pigeons.

I have seen a small flock of white birds (that I have not yet been able to

have often wondered if they were raised by someone and let out occasionally for
a fly around. Anyone heard of this? Can they be collared doves as well?

There have been concerns about the rapid invasion of collared doves displacing

Actually collared doves invaded Florida in the 1970s ...I think from the
Bahamas...since then their numbers have continued to increase and spread
throughout the US! We have small numbers in Stanford.

Subject: [birdky] Question about Collared Doves
Hi, There is a small flock of Collared Doves that I see quite often in the same
rural residential area. They do not migrate and can be seen daily.
Are Collared Doves easily raised and released? Is this common place?
