I thought that our Siskins had departed until I saw one at a sunflower
feeder yesterday and again today.  Prior to that I hadn't seen any since
May 9.

I had never seen so many Siskins as the flocks we had feeding this year. 
They were much less fearful than the other feeders and on one occasion
after a cold night, one Siskin landed on the feeder as I carried it out to
hang it in the tree.  (We are the folks who take in the sunflower and suet
every night to keep the flying squirrels, opossum and raccoons from
cleaning us out.)  If the Cowbirds had flashlights, I'm sure they'd try to
keep a night shift feeding too.  :)

We have one suet feeder up and no other bird feeder except for hummingbird
feeders. We take the sunflower feeders down after the rose-breasted
grosbeaks have moved through because we can't stand feeding all those
cowbirds. So, yesterday and again today, we saw a pine Siskin on the suet
feeder. That one suet feeder has attracted myriad species, including a
female summer tanager, red-headed, red-breasted, hairy, and downy
woodpeckers, rose-breasted grosbeak (but not for several weeks now),
red-winged blackbird, grackle, titmouse, white-breasted nuthatch, Carolina
chickadee, goldfinch, Cardinal, and a chipmunk. Of corse, we go through
one in about 11/2 days, but it sure is fun to watch. Northern Franklin Co.
