Have a pair of Piliated Woodpeckers at our suet feeders this morning. Last
year only a female came and presumably quit when she laid her eggs. Never did
see the male except once at a distance and never in company with the female.
We had thought our winter sparrows had left (Juncos still here) but in the
heavy rain on Saturday, both White Crowned and White Throated Sparrows appeared
eating mealworms. Certainly some of them have left; there being only one or
two of each on Saturday.
