Had a couple of hours for birding this afternoon so I tried Spindletop farm in Lexington in hope of some northern birds blown in with the winter storm. Horned larks were everywhere, with a few Lapland longspurs and one American pipit mixed in. Didn't see any snow buntings. Raptors were well represented with several kestrel, red-tailed hawks and one harrier. The surprise of the trip was a pair of peregrine falcons. While looking for buntings in one of the northernmost fields, I looked up in a sycamore to see I'd parked under the peregrines, which unfortunately flew off before I could reach the camera. I followed them for about 30 minutes as they flew south over the farm, putting on quite a show with several stoops over pastures with starlings and larks.
