Finally, after 3 years, we have a hatch at the first confirmed natural
cliff Peregrine Falcon nest in Kentucky history. The link shows Dee
feeding the young falcon, whose proper term is eyass. I only saw one
but am hoping more appear. Dee and Boone are incredible first-time
parents with Boone very busy bringing in more prey than needed....for
now. Dee is caching it on the rock cliff and even left one draped on a
tree limb.
I'll post more about my 2 days of interesting observation but will say
I'm a bit sore as two of us over 65 year old women had to dig out a
boat ramp from gooey, icky, deep, wet, slimy, very slippery and heavy
river mud to get to the site that involved an 8 mile paddle. But, no
flooding KY River was going to keep us from checking on this pair.
