I’m sorry. I’d be getting tired of me if I were you, but I had to share
this. Debby and I ran down to see the Short-eared Owls, before supper.
There were fewer Harriers than there has been, but the Owls were soon up and
very rowdy. One came for an inspection and circled us a few times before
landing on a road sign, on the other side of the car from where we were
standing. I could only see about half of it through the scope, when trying
to get photos. Unfortunately, it couldn’t have been more starkly silhouetted
in the sunset if it had been planned. The third and fourth photo links,
below, are Debby’s, taken on the wing as he approach the sign. We could hear
his claws scrabbling on the metal, when he landed.
