 Could they have possibly been trumpeter swans? The reason I ask is that one
of the the trumpeter swans we saw at Honker Dam in LBL last year also
sporteda neck band that read 52N! If so, how neat to see it returning to the
same general area this year. If I recall correctly, we saw those swans in
mid-January last year. Here&#39;s the information that was reported back to
me when I turned in the data: 
Mature with yellow neckband (52N) 
Species TRUMPETER SWAN 
Sex UNKNOWN 
Age of Bird WAS TOO YOUNG TO FLY WHEN BANDED IN 2009 
Location BARRON, BARRON COUNTY, WISCONSIN, USA (COORDINATES: LAT: 45.41667;
LON: - 91.91667 ) 
Bander RICHARD KAHL 
WISCONSIN DEPT NATURAL RESOURCES

I believe we saw this swan in a flock of about 14. Two other swans had
legible nec k bands too. Here is the info on those swans too, if anyone is
interested. If trumpeters are indeed back in the area, we&#39;ll be on the
lookout for them again in LBL!! Thanks Willard.
