[birdky] Re: Ospreys Nesting on Hwy 68/80 Eggners Ferry Bridge?

So far, so good.

I'm KTC's biologist for that district. We have we been watching carefully the
nesting on the Eggner's Ferry Bridge emergency repair section. We have also
been working with KDFWR's Kate Heyden (and indirectly, you) to create
additional nesting platforms centered around that bridge and the Henry Lawrence
Bridge over Lake Barkeley. We were already nearing completion on the
biological assessment when the bridge was hit. Both bridges are slated to be
replaced within the next few years. That was the original reason we explored
additional osprey platforms. However, the emergency repair created the need to
speed up the osprey platform effort. Some have now been installed and
additional platforms are currently being installed. There will be a total of
10 new platforms once the smoke clears. BTW, the bridge repairs are supposed to
be finished in about 1.5 weeks.
