So far, so good. I'm KTC's biologist for that district. We have we been watching carefully the nesting on the Eggner's Ferry Bridge emergency repair section. We have also been working with KDFWR's Kate Heyden (and indirectly, you) to create additional nesting platforms centered around that bridge and the Henry Lawrence Bridge over Lake Barkeley. We were already nearing completion on the biological assessment when the bridge was hit. Both bridges are slated to be replaced within the next few years. That was the original reason we explored additional osprey platforms. However, the emergency repair created the need to speed up the osprey platform effort. Some have now been installed and additional platforms are currently being installed. There will be a total of 10 new platforms once the smoke clears. BTW, the bridge repairs are supposed to be finished in about 1.5 weeks. > -----Original Message----- > From: birdky-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:birdky-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On > Behalf > Of Ed Ray > Sent: Tuesday, May 15, 2012 1:37 PM > To: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [birdky] Ospreys Nesting on Hwy 68/80 Eggners Ferry Bridge? > > Anyone know how the one or two pairs of ospreys are doing with their nests > that > are typically on the Eggner's Ferry Bridge (with bridge repairs in progress)? > > Ed Ray, Hopkins Co. > ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============== > > When posting on BIRDKY, please close posts with your first and last name and > your address (city or county). > > * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * > > To post on BIRDKY, send e-mail to: > birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > > * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * > > Visit the KOS website at > http://www.biology.eku.edu/kos/default.htm > > * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * > > Visit the KOS Photo Page to view photos of birds recently sighted in Kentucky: > http://www.flickr.com/groups/kentucky_ornithological_society/pool > > * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * > > To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: > birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. > > * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * > > BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison. > E-mail: gary.ritchison@xxxxxxx ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============== When posting on BIRDKY, please close posts with your first and last name and your address (city or county). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To post on BIRDKY, send e-mail to: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS website at http://www.biology.eku.edu/kos/default.htm * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS Photo Page to view photos of birds recently sighted in Kentucky: http://www.flickr.com/groups/kentucky_ornithological_society/pool * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison.
